What is Wrong with Being a Conservative?
by Tom Buchanan

A conservative is defined as favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change. Many will berate those claiming to be conservative as if something is wrong with wanting values that work to remain in place.

A democracy only exists until people discover they can vote themselves gifts (entitlements) from the government. Then the majority votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury. The result is that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, followed by a dictatorship.

This country has gone from reliance on God to dependence on government. Social Security and Medicaid are just two of many examples of how Americans have become dependent on government.

Most great civilizations last about 200 years. Nations progress through this sequence. From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance, from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back into bondage.

When someone tells you they are a progressive, ask them where they are progressing to.

We are now somewhere in complacency, apathy, or dependence. You decide. Let's try to get back to spiritual faith for our children's sake. Vote!
