Anti-Terrorism Bill: New Amendment by Tom Buchanan

In wake of the outbreak of prejudice directed toward people of Arabic descent and to prevent law enforcement officers from being accused of racial and ethnic profiling Senate democrats have introduced an amendment to the Anti-Terrorism bill. It would require anyone with the intention of committing an act of terrorism to identify themselves by wearing a t shirt that states they are indeed a terrorist.

The penalty for inflicting an act of terror without the prescribed clothing would add an additional one year in prison and a five thousand dollar fine to any sentence the perpetrator receives for his or her crime.

The amendment has raised concerns on the floor of the senate. Those opposed to the measure say it is yet one more law that criminals will not adhere to. “It makes no sense at all,” claimed one senator who wished to remain anonymous, “Terrorist are criminals and by definition are not going to obey any law that who take away the element of surprise or deny them an uneven advantage.”

The debate rages on to decide on what color scheme would work best.

Those for the amendment say it will assist law enforcement in identifying terrorist before they cause any harm. The shirts can only be purchased from the fashion division of the Department Homeland Defense. “Once potential terrorists buys some shirts we will have their name and addresses in our data base. We can then keep a watchful eye on them.” said an unnamed senator from South Dakota. The senator went on to say that “It only makes sense that a terrorist of a particular ethnic background would not want his fellow countrymen to suffer ethnic profiling because of what they are about to do,”

Other organizations were concerned that the t shirt requirement would be expanded to include any group that the government deemed necessary to keep an eye on. It will make it easier to know who is who at any protest rallies in the future. “Sometimes we want to blend in and not be noticed as we go about our activities,” said a representative of the Million Mom’s. “We need to do things under the cover of darkness before anyone gets wind of what we are up to. Making us wear t shirts would give us away.”
