Terrorism and Racism

Many people on the left are arguing that we should not be fighting terrorism in the Mid-East. They also argue that as we fight terrorists it rallies more to join their cause against us. Let us take a peek at the not so long ago past.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought to bring racial equality to this nation. With every act of racism he could have chose to ignore it and hope it would get better by itself. He did not pretend that it did not exist; instead he recognized the injustice and fought to expose and overcome it. It was not an easy fight. There were riots and demonstrations. Today, there are still remnants of racism that we are trying to overcome.

Since the first World Trade Center bombing on Feb. 26, 1993 there have been 31 terror attacks by or inspired by Al Qaida. Today we face an enemy that has sworn to kill all Americans.

Should we ignore this threat or expose the perpetrators and destroy them before they destroy us?

Many argue that we are creating more terrorists by taking on those that would destroy us. Dr. King exposed racism and fought to eliminate it, is he responsible for creating more racists?

Ahmed Shah Massoud, the Lion of Panjshir was the military leader of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan fighting against the Taliban and one, Usama Bin Laden. Massoud warned us before 9/11/2001 that if did not fight and destroy Usama Bin Laden and his followers in Afghanistan then Bin Laden would bring his war to America.

Since the devastating attacks on our country on 9/11/2001 we have been taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq. We have not had another major terror attack on our soil. Common sense would dictate that Massoud was right.

Since it appears we have a choice; where should we fight this war with those that are dedicated to our annihilation?
