State Sovereignty
We live in a nation founded on the principle of autonomous states. The purpose of the federal government is, or was, to ensure that each sovereign state could run it’s own affairs independent of other states. It is the principle of self-governance. We must allow each sovereign entity, weather it be an individual, municipality, state or nation the right to succeed and the dignity to fail. It is the way of true freedom. One good example is the recent power outages in California. This is an issue for California to overcome on its own. California allowed itself to be overrun by environmental extremists who have lobbied for an agenda of not building enough power plants to meet the demand of growth. They won. The citizens are reaping what they have sown. They have set strict standards, which have placed them in their present predicament. It was their choice as a sovereign state. They can now choose a more logical path for their future power needs. Yes, it will take some time to turn it around, but it is the only way they will learn the lesson. California wants to build a power plant in Colorado because their strict environmental regulations do not allow for expansion of power plants in their environmentally clean state so they wish to add a degree of pollution to our wonderful state. If the federal government chooses to force other states to help them then we may as well get out our United States atlases and erase all those lines that separate one state from the next for we will have lost more of our precious sovereignty . If any state chooses not to provide for their own future they have themselves to blame. Every sovereign entity should enjoy the fruits of their own regulations.
