Loveland's Jayhawker Gator Story Intensifies

There is an old say “It all is fun and games until someone gets an eye poked out.” Fun and games has been a way to describe the festive-like atmosphere that has been prevalent in Loveland for the past week. Everyone has been making light of the monster in the lake. That mood may take an extreme turn if the worst situation is realized. It has been only a few days since the police have closed Jayhawker ponds because a large reptile has been spotted lurking in the murky waters.

As the sun made it appearance in the East and cast its morning light over the Jayhawker Ponds at First and Taft in Loveland it was soon apparent that something tragic may have taken place on the dock on the North side of one of the ponds.

Two pools of what appears to be a large amount of fresh blood stood out on the end of the dock. Police were called to the scene and divers went into the water immediately. The only thing they found near the end of the dock was a mangled folding chair.

The serene calmness of the pond gives no indication of the violent confrontation that may have taken place during the dark of the moonless night only hours before.

The dock has been closed for the past week. The only thing stopping someone from gaining access to the dock and the surrounding areas are some caution tape and a sign that says the ponds are closed until further notice.

The media has been buzzing with bravado from those that have many different theories of how to capture an alligator. Maybe this will be a case of “Don't try this at home or at your local pond, because this needs to be left to professionals.” This is the kind of event that will perk the imagination of young boys. Hopefully all of Loveland's teenagers are accounted for.

Maybe this is nothing but a practical joke, but maybe it will turn out to be a story of tragic proportions that the community cannot even begin to comprehend. We can only hope that the investigation will point to someone having a sick sense of humor.

Speaking of a sick sense of humor, this is a piece of fiction.
