Concealed Carry Laws The most basic instinct for all humans is survival. If a human sees a dangerous predicament he can size up the situation, use his ability to reason and decide to make a choice; fight or flight. But what about a handicapped individual? Being a leg amputee my flight option is severely hampered. I don't run very fast. So I am left to stand and fight. I am an easy pushover when if involved in a physical confrontation. I am primary prey to criminals. A basic law of nature is the predator will take the weakest of prey in a herd. I would like to be able to equalize a threat by thugs, intent on doing harm to myself or my family. The inalienable right of survival should be obvious in a free country. It is sad that law-abiding citizens cannot, without breaking the law, have the necessary means to defend themselves. Criminals aren't concerned with concealed carry laws. Every time I see women or physically impaired individuals assaulted or murdered I wonder if the outcome of these incidents would have been different by merely exposing a concealed handgun. Society has made the concealment of handguns a crime, and basically created a society of victims. I would like our elected officials to help law-abiding citizens break out of the victim mentality. Please pass legislation to make it easier for law-abiding people to obtain concealed carry permits state wide.
