The Card Game of Compromise
Compromise is the means by which we will see our liberty and freedom disappear into the darkness of a night gone by. Politicians are usually first elected by promising to abide by some principles agreeable by those that elect them. Once elected, however, they tremble at the thought of not being re-elected. Out of this fear, most abandon the principles that got them elected in the first place. They compromise their principles in order to remain in power. Elected officials use our God given rights like poker chips in an unsavory game of cards where the house dealer is a known cheat. Perhaps it is time to reevaluate the value of our chips to the value of theirs. In the great poker game of liberty we will learn that they are wagering worthless coins against our priceless currency. We continue to play like some Las Vegas loser who just knows his big score to win his money back is ready and waiting the next time the cards are shuffled and dealt. If we continue to play this game then we must accept the fact that the lives lost and sacrifices made by everyone since the Revolutionary War to see the ideals that founded this nation passed on to the next generation have been for nothing. Liberty, justice and individual freedom will have been nothing, but a failed experiment. It is time to fold them and get out of the game!
