Blind Eyes and Deaf Ears
There is a fable about an evil snake and a liberal lady. It goes like this. It was really cold and a nice lady had a warm blanket. A poisonous snake nearby was shivering and begged the lady just to pick him up long enough for him to get warm. She resisted saying "you are a poisonous snake and you will bite me and I'll die!" He begged and pleaded and promised not to bite her so she finally gave in and picked him up and wrapped him in the blanket. He bit her and as she was laying there dying she asked "why did you bite me - you promised you wouldn't?" As he slithered away he looked back and said: "Lady you knew I was a snake when you picked me up!"
We see and hear these things, yet we pretend that it is not true. Is it because we don't want to admit that such evil can exist? Is it that we don't care as long as it does not affect our lives personally? We share this world with venomous vipers and we cautiously step around them hoping they will leave us alone. They want to kill us just because of who we are. They do not care if you have compassion. You will only be easier to kill later. If there was a rattlesnake in your living room would you continue to walk around it hoping that you will always know where it is and what it is up too? Or would you crush it and cut off its head so that it will not be able to kill you or your children. It seems that we have people and institutions like newspapers right here in America that try to convince us every day that the poisonous snake will not harm us if we just give it what it wants. It wants to kill us! If you have ever had the chance to walk up and startle a rattlesnake its rattle sounds a warning that cannot be ignored. It will cause you to stop in your tracks, even if you have never heard the sound before. Once you stop, you will intensely scan the area all around you looking for the snake. You will be profiling. The animal that made that sound is a snake. It is not a squirrel, a frog, a bird or a deer. It is a snake. Why do we deny our senses? If someone says he wants to kill us and shows how he has killed others we must take him at his word and destroy him first, before he destroys us..
