An Open Letter to Congress: Campaign Finance Reform
by Tom Buchanan
April 30, 2006

Dear Congress Critter,
I see by your recent letter, with a convenient return envelope, that you are running for reelection. I have recently renewed my personal Campaign Finance Reform Guidelines. This is to inform you that all of my money that I can afford for political purposes has been diverted to causes that I believe are more in line with my concerns. One such cause is the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps Border Fence project.

The Minutemen are doing what you have been unwilling to do. Instead of performing your duties of protecting and defending our Constitution you have been spending our hard earned tax dollars on $29 billion in pork projects for 2006. That amount would surely go a long way to ensuring our security. Until our borders are secure, please do not try to convince me that you are serious about Homeland Security.

There is much rhetoric about how illegal aliens come here to do the work that Americans won't do. It must be nice, as a member of congress and president, to be protected by the Constitution from your job being taken by an illegal immigrant. Perhaps you should amend the Constitution to exclude these clauses or ensure that all Americas enjoy the same privilege. It is quite apparent that we could find some illegal aliens to do the work that you are unwilling to do.

I am not getting a warm, fuzzy feeling that you are representing my interest and concerns about the future of America. I believe your campaign has me confused with someone else. I have obviously been mistaken for someone that wants you to throw money at anything that moves so that you can proudly proclaim that you spent more than your opponent on every issue.

I voted for you to on your promise to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. You took a solemn oath to do so. I did not vote for you to be on the board of directors of a charity organization. Please stop acting like a board member.

It is apparent that the difference between the political parties is becoming narrower with every passing election. Soon there will be only one philosophy in Washington. Every election cycle brings an increasing level of spending to get elected that results in the good citizens of this country being lead on a slow march to socialism.

Perhaps you will not fully appreciate the ire of the American people until you are cleaning out your prestigious Washington office after being defeated in the upcoming election. Then you will have time to reflect on the votes you made in the People's House. Maybe you will have time to actually read the Constitution and see that you may have overstepped your authority by voting for special interest groups or had your vote swayed by large crowds encouraging and supporting illegal activity.

Instead of wasting your time and money to beg me for more money to support your reelection please donate it to the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps Border Fence project. You can donate on line here https://secure.responseenterprises.com/mmfence/

Sincerely,
Tom Buchanan
