A Clash of Societies
As I write this, embassies in Europe, Asia and the Middle East are ablaze. The spark was ignited by 12 caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. Islamic law is interpreted to forbid any depictions of the Prophet Muhammad. Though these cartoons did not originate in the United States, the root cause of the outrage in the Muslim world will undoubtedly affect our country. It is painfully obvious that the root of the problem is a clash of cultures. In America, we live in a society that enjoys free speech and we have pushed the limits way beyond the shock factor. We have been desensitized to the point of apathy. We have tolerated deviate behavior for far too long. When an artist splatters dung on the Virgin Mary being splattered with dung or another artist puts a photograph of a crucifix in a jar full of his urine we tolerate it. These are even funded with our tax dollars. It is not reasonable that the world can interpret this as an official United States government endorsement of an anti religious stance? Where is the political correct crowd when people of faith are offended? It is clear that we have tolerated the deviates of the country far too long by protecting their behavior in a cloak of one way political correctness. We are indeed a tolerant society. When we are shocked it seems we raise an eyebrow and move on. Just because we have given free reign and accepted perverted free speech does not mean that the rest of the world will be so tolerant. Witness the fires raging as I type. It is quite obvious that some people take their religion more seriously than we do. And I ask myself, “Is that a bad thing?” In a global economy the profits of a product can be greatly increased by expanding markets. Hollywood and the far left of the world have been exporting the filth that we, in America have become used to for decades. They think nothing of offending anyone. It is my belief that the crisis in the Middle East is not so much about oil that we import, but rather the filth that we export. There is a passage in the recited of al Christian prayers that states, “And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.” It is apparent that we have been bombarding the Muslim world with degenerate views long before the Iran Hostage Crisis, November 4, 1979, the Bombing of U.S. Embassy in Beirut, April 18, 1983 and decades before the Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Homeland, September 11, 2001. Perhaps they are protecting themselves from temptation and evil that we have allowed to permeate our society. Thomas Jefferson said in his first inaugural speech: "Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations- entangling alliance with none." We have indeed become dependant on foreign oil and the exchange of money for oil could probably be as cordial as buying a loaf of bread at the corner store. Perhaps the Muslim world feels their culture is threatened and will not tolerate it. We have allowed our views to threaten those with whom we do commerce and they have retaliated. In order to protect our national interest we must invoke military solutions. Many in the United States have called out for isolationism. Perhaps we will forced into isolationism when the rest of the world decides that we need a bubble put around us to keep our degenerate, despicable, anti-religious morality contained to our own shores.
